Physiotherapy at Dena Sports Physio starts with a thorough assessment by a physiotherapist who is a member of the Ordre professionnel de la physiothérapie du Québec (OPPQ). You leave the first visit with a clear explanation of what is going on, a realistic plan and exercises you can start the same day. In Quebec you can book directly — no doctor's referral is needed to see a physiotherapist.

What physiotherapy can help with
Physiotherapists assess and treat problems that affect how you move, from a recent sprain to pain that has lasted for months. Treatment aims to reduce pain, restore movement and strength, and give you the tools to manage the problem yourself.
- Back and neck pain, including sciatica and stiffness
- Shoulder pain, rotator cuff problems and frozen shoulder
- Knee, hip, ankle and foot injuries
- Sprains, strains and tendinopathies (tennis elbow, Achilles, patellar tendon)
- Rehabilitation after surgery or a fracture (e.g. knee or hip replacement, ACL reconstruction)
- Work injuries (CNESST) and car-accident injuries (SAAQ)
- Balance, mobility and strength for older adults
- Posture- and desk-related pain
Our approach
Every plan is built around your goal: walking without pain, returning to your sport, getting back to work or simply sleeping better. We explain our findings in plain language and review progress at each visit, so you always know why we are doing what we are doing.
Treatment is one-on-one and may combine manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, education and self-management strategies, and physical agents when they are appropriate for your condition. Exercise is at the heart of lasting results, so we keep your home program short, specific and progressive.
What to expect at your first visit
- Detailed history: how the problem started, what makes it better or worse, and your goals.
- Physical assessment of movement, strength, joints and nerves, plus tests specific to your condition.
- Clear explanation of the findings and a treatment plan with an estimated number of visits.
- First treatment and a home program you can start right away.
Coverage and billing
Physiotherapy is covered by most group insurance plans; receipts are issued after every visit and direct billing is available with participating insurers. Treatment related to an accepted CNESST or SAAQ claim is billed directly to the organization, so you pay nothing at the clinic for covered treatment. More about insurance
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a doctor's referral to see a physiotherapist?
No. In Quebec you can consult a physiotherapist directly. Some private insurers ask for a prescription before they reimburse, and CNESST and SAAQ files follow their own rules, so check your plan or ask us when you book.
How long is a physiotherapy session?
The first visit is longer than follow-ups because it includes the full assessment. We confirm the exact length when we schedule your appointment.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the problem, how long it has been present and your goals. After the assessment your physiotherapist gives you an estimate and reviews it with you as you progress. Many people need fewer visits than they expect when they follow their home program.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing that lets us see and move the area being treated — for example shorts for a knee problem or a tank top for a shoulder.
Is physiotherapy painful?
Treatment should not make you worse. Some techniques or exercises can be uncomfortable for a short time; your physiotherapist adjusts the intensity with you and explains what is normal to feel afterwards.
Do you treat people after surgery?
Yes. We regularly see patients after joint replacements, ligament reconstructions, arthroscopies and fractures. Bring your surgeon's protocol or instructions if you have them.
